Hello everyone!  It is Giveaway Day once again, and I am happy to offer this little fabric basket, which is an ideal size to store small cuts of fabrics like fat quarters, but can also be used for all kinds of small items.

To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment on this post, telling me what food is a holiday tradition in your home.

The giveaway is open to everyone, only one entry per person, and I will happily ship to international visitors. The winner will be chosen at random among all eligible entries.  Please make sure that I have a way to reach you, otherwise I will have to draw another name.  Giveaway will close on Friday, December 13, at 8 PM EST, and I will email the winner over the weekend and announce it here.

Make sure to visit Sew Mama Sew Blog and check out all the other great giveaways.

Have fun and good luck!

Sylvie

And the winner is... / Et le gagnant est...

Hello everyone, hope you are enjoying your Saturday, it is snow day in Quebec city.  The landscape is slowly turning white and that puts me in the Christmas spirit, which is perfect for the occasion, as it is time to announce the winner to my little giveaway of a Christmas ornament.

I received lots of great comments and enjoyed reading them very much.  I learned great things about Christmas ornaments too, and from the comments I made a little research on Etsy and found a selection of beautiful ornaments that I would love to add to my own Christmas tree.  As I thought some of you might also be interested in these finds, here are my favorites, with links to the Etsy seller where I found them.

I had no idea that okra pods were used to make ornaments,
but this is what this cute snowman is made of .

Apparently these are a great classic, but they are new to me.
I actually want to make some myself, they look like a lot of fun to make.
avais jamais vu.  Ils ont l'air amusant à fabriquer.

And now, let's get to the winner of my giveaway.  Mr. Random Number Generator has chosen...

Number 47:

My favorite ornament is one that one gifted to me 3 years ago from a dear family friend. She actually sent several but the one I love the most is this beautiful 5 tiered wedding cake full of beautiful colors and lots and lots of glitter! It's something I really care about and make sure I put it right smack in the middle of the tree so it's what my eyes go to the most often. I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful husband and family.

Thank you for the chance to win. You do fabulous work!

Congratulations Stephanie on winning my little ornament!  I will be in contact with you very soon!

Thank you to everyone who participated, hope to see you around next time.  And if you are looking for easy ornaments to make before Christmas (and ideally understand some French), I found these cute ones in Marie-Claire Idées Magazine.   All you have to do is print them, fold and glue.  Happy crafting!

Handmade decorations

I know I am coming a little late with these, but as I was gifting them to my mom for Christmas, I couldn't show them earlier.  They are just simple designs cross-stitched on Aïda and backed with red cotton, but they make fancy decorations.  The designs come from an old Christmas edition of Marianne magazine.

Best wishes for the New Year!

Is it too late or way too early for Christmas stuff?

Honestly, I think it doesn't really matter as long as I enjoy what I am doing.

I realised, a few weeks before Christmas, that it would be nice to have some placemats for the season. Problem was, I did not have any holiday fabric and anyway I was much too busy with getting everything else ready for Christmas. Still, I ordered some fabric and received it during the holidays, but it is only now that I have time to sit down and sew what I had in mind.

My boyfriend wanted something very traditional as far as colors go, so he chose solid green and red fabrics to go along with the penguin pattern.

I, on the other hand, have a thing for the Be Merry fabrics, so I opted for brighter colors. I still need to quilt and add the bias, but I already am pretty satisfied with how it turned out, knowing that I did not use any pattern.

I am hoping to have time to finish them during the weekend, but today on my day off from work, I will definitely go play outside as the sun is finally back for a visit with some warm temperatures.
